Hansel & Gretel’s favorite snack holder: Gerber Graduates Lil’ Snackin’ Bowl

We have complained in the past about the what-were-they-thinking poor quality of Munchkin's Snack Trap rip-off, and readers have been sounding off recently in a certain comment thread. But we may have been wasting our breath.

Is it really possible that the company behind the World's Worst Sippy Cup could also have conceived of the world's worst toddler snack holder?

Well, yes. In fact, it's highly likely, wouldn't you say?

Behold:

As an added bonus, an Amazon customer observes that the strange protrusion opposite the opening makes a natural handle so toddlers they can carry the snack holder around, opening down, to spill a trail of snacks in their path.

You sort of showed this, but that lid is hard to get on. When I first bought these, I threw in some snacks, snapped the lid on, threw it in the diaper bag and headed out the door with the kiddo. Arrived at the zoo to find I had not attached the lid properly and all of the snacks where all over my diaper bag. However, between this and the Munchkin one, those are the only two snack holders I see at the stores. Are there any others that actually work or is this a useless product always?

Amber, as a matter of fact, we are dyed-in-the-wool Munchie Mug fans. We’d better do a video demo.

Great review, Adrienne! We’ve been trying out other brands lately, and have long experience with the Snack Trap. I think that one is a mixed bag.

I am also a Munchie Mug fan!!!

One thing I noticed in the review: I very much doubted they expected the food to be loaded through the the flaps. Rather, you are supposed to take the top off and load it.

I wouldn’t expect my Snack Trap to work as well if I was loading from the top, through the flaps, either.

6. Jeremiah [8/18/09]

Oh, I never intended that to suggest that was the proper way to load it, although I can see how it might. I was just doing that for my own convenience, and none of my complaints about the product relate to that step of the process. Next time we’ll keep that in mind for our demo videos, though, so thanks for mentioning it!

Then again, the lid is very awkward to attach, and there might be some resulting spills due to jostling the bowl when trying to attach the lid.

I bought two of these, used them twice, then gave up. They’re totally useless and caused a mess in the car seat.

My Boaz’s Ruth, what difference do you think it makes how he loaded it? Long-term, I could see that maybe it would stretch out or something, but for demo purposes, it would still result in the same spilling.

Don’t worry, it does appear that the thing doesn’t work—I’ve got what works for us so won’t be buying anything else anyway.

It was not apparent to me from the video that the top was hard to put on.  Nor that this was a brand new item. So that looked very confusing.  As if it had been used all the time that way.  And that was what I focused on *shrug*

How did you even come across this?  It looks terrible from the picture alone!

Snack Trap didn’t work for us for a while...but now my grandson is almost 2 and we use them daily.  I think once they can realize that “hey, I WANT to eat my snack - I don’t want it to spill”, they are great!

These bowls are terrible.  The lids are hard to get on, the kid holds it by the “trap” part and everything comes out.

We love the good old Snack Traps.

I love my Munchie Mug. It is the only snack container I use with my 15 mo old.

The original Snack Traps (by Mossworld) are awesome.  They work really well.
