Obentec, makers of the lead-free, PVC and phthalate-free, and BPA-free bento-box-style
Laptop Lunch, is offering a
holiday discount of 20% on anything they sell through Dec. 16 with the discount code "holiday2008".
We bought our first Laptop Lunch kit as a birthday gift for Z that year to send her to daycare with healthy homemade lunches, and got jealous and bought sets for ourselves a
couple months later. The Laptop Lunch is a
top-rated product in the ZRecs Guide for its versatility, durability, and overall user-friendliness.
This all dovetails nicely with the fact that the ZRecs Guide just hit 1,000 items tracked in our database. We have plans for a big push to bring many more products - and more voices - into the Guide in the next couple of months, in moves we're looking forward to telling you about soon. So we're tickled to have the opportunity to celebrate the milestone give away one of the first BPA-free items we got excited about despite being pretty clueless about plastics issues.
That's right - to help promote their 20% off sale, Obentec has agreed to let us
give away one of their fabulous Laptop Lunch Systems!
This will be a quick giveaway aimed primarily at our core readers, and there are two ways to enter to win. We'll accept entries until 11:59 p.m. Friday night, and contact the winner and alternates via the email address provided in their comment.
For one entry,
visit the ZRecs Guide, come back and tell us the name of one five-star-rated item you'd love to give or receive as a gift this holiday season. It's a cinch to find top-rated products in the guide using the "Recommended Products" section of the ZRecs Guide's righthand sidebar; just use the dropdown to select a product category, and you'll retrieve a set of company-by-company pages of our top-rated items in that category.
For a second entry, join our new ZRecs community using the "Join this site" button in the righthand column of this blog, add a picture to your profile - anything but the default silhouette - and then comment on this post to tell us what your username is. You can sign in using a Google, AIM, OpenID, or a couple of other kinds of accounts, but the widgets don't currently work on all browsers - Safari and IE 6 don't seem to work right now, but we know they work in Firefox and Google's Chrome browser. Google is working out the kinks, and we're currently in experimental mode with it ourselves, but over the next few months we'll be incorporating some new features into our sites that you'll need to be a member to participate in, and we'd love to have you - signing up once means you're a member of the entire network and can participate in any members-only content we develop. Your entry will only be considered valid if you swap out that default image with one of your own - it doesn't have to be a mug shot of yourself, so feel free to get creative! - and comment on this post to tell us you'd like to be entered to win, and what your member name is.
Official Rules: Two entries per person, via the means described above. Entrants must be 18 or older and must be U.S. residents. Neither Z Recommends nor prize sponsors are responsible for merchandise lost or damaged in transit. No purchase necessary. Entries accepted until 11:59 p.m. CT Dec. 12, 2008.

Medium lunchbox from Lunchsense. I’m really looking for a better lunchbox alternative for my daughter.
I am definitely giving the Adiri Natural Nurser to one of my new mom friends this Christmas. It’s the only bottle my BFing boy will take when I’m away. I love the design (extra fun to hand over to care providers!) and that it’s BPA- and phthalate-free.
I’m joined on as thecatenelson.
(That thumbnail is me and my two boys at the Shedd in Chicago. One little guy is worn.)
