We're getting excited about the upcoming BlogHer conference in Chicago this summer. But then, Legos are always exciting, aren't they?
Actually, one of the reasons we're getting excited is the breakout discussion group proposal we just submitted.
Moms (and Dads!) who blog can be a force for change, especially if they know how to seek out and interpret previously undisclosed information for their readers. We'll discuss finding research topics you're passionate about, navigating corporate channels to get information your readers need, filing formal requests for government documents, and building relationships that will serve your investigative interests in the long term. Other possible roads we could go down with this discussion include:
- Online research tools and resources
- Why getting the second, and best story is often better than being first
- How to work with print reporters
- Knowing when and how to promote your best work
- Tackling issues with multiple bloggers
- Integrating social networking into your research and advocacy
If you're going to BlogHer, hop on over and
vote up our session if it's one you'd like to attend. They pick these in some manner that has something to do with whether attendees indicate they'd go to it, and we just got ours into the queue, so we have a ways to go. If we do get the green light, we'll be joined by the fabulous Kelby Carr (
Type A Mom) who has
something up her sleeve, and by...
you?
If you want to go to BlogHer but are thinking it's beyond your means, take a look at our
BlogHer ticket giveaway. That $300 ticket to both days, meals, childcare, and everything else in the conference proper could be yours!
