More Lego music madness: (Long live) The White Stripes

Apropos yesterday's Playmobil/Lego music video post, this spot-on recommendation comes in from Kathleen at Katydid & Kid, who took time out from making snow caves to offer us a very timely Lego-based musical reference:

"Ooh, I love this (Playmobil rocks)! It reminds me of my fondness for the White Stripes/Michel Gondry video with Legos -- Fell In Love With a Girl."

Thanks for sharing, Kathleen! We've included an Amazon link for The White Stripes in there and an iTunes link to the song itself, in case anyone hasn't immersed themselves in the band's fabulousness. There's no time like the present, as Jack and Meg White announced last week that The White Stripes are breaking up.

That video sent us into another round of searching, which turned up a fantastic Lego video for a song by The Orange Strips. (The band names provide their own segue, don't they?) This video is notable in its commitment to tell a secondary story beyond just showing the band performing, one which builds on and interprest the topic of the song in a specific way, much as a traditional music video might. Be warned: This very intriguing story contains a knife fight in which transluscent red 1x1s are spilled, and the story ends badly, though not gruesomely. In other words, and this IS a spoiler, is not for your kids, unless they are a teenager, in which case it could be an object lesson on the perils of going off into the woods with someone you just met. It's also worth watching for the beautiful wooded landscape alone.

You’re right, that wooded landscape is pretty incredible!  What a cool video...my son is entranced, and wants to keep watching it, along with The Stripes, of course (his mama’s favorite).

Oh, and I meant to write that I didn’t let my son see the end of the Orange Strips! Phew!

There’s a great app for iPhone that would be useful for this: StopMotion Recorder. Easy to use and cheap.

Cool! My son is still in his duplo (not lego) age, but he already loves watching this. Thanks for sharing.
