On a recent visit to Houston, Z and I abandoned plans for a major museum visit when we drove by a broken water main and a driving lane full of water. Some scenes:
What a great and educational way to spend some time, and Z really made the most of it.
In the olden days water mains used to break more often. Maybe it was deliberate ... it sure is a lot cheaper than building more museums!!!

More frequently? Its a once-every-three-weeks in my neighborhood as we still have old mains...I did go worm-mucking (Calvin and Hobbes reference) and puddle jumping with the neighbor children the last time it actually happened in the summer. Such fun!
3. Kristin [10/22/09]
“this is our boat, we get to keep it”
“Its a beer can, we’re not going to keep it.”
oh this just made my day. Looks like a fun day, good competition with the museum for sure!

This so reminded me of a boat race when I was a little that, I kid you not, went along a curb for about 100 yards. There were about ten kids in it, each with our own boats (paper boats, plastic bottle caps, modified plastic bottles and one modified beer can from yours truly) and we ran along cheering on the race. Hope to see you all soon!
The line I trace with my feet walking to the museum is more important and more beautiful than the lines I find there hung up on the walls. Hundertwasser, Paris 1953.

You’re very brave.
What happened to the beer can?
