ZRecs announcements

A few quick items:

  • Our newsletter went out late last night, so if you're a subscriber, don't miss it! In addition to offering some details about what we'll be posting about for the next couple of weeks, it offers you the chance to win our Thinksport Family Pack by completing a short survey (which one respondent took as an opportunity to "congratulate the survey's copywriter" for its "witty, succinct, and friendly" tone!) that can help ensure we're covering your main interests as well as moving on income-generating opportunities in a way that makes sense to you. We'll accept entries through sometime tomorrow.

  • Mattel is working on getting on your lsit of least-trusted companies again, in case you missed this bit of news. Consumer Reports offered the earliest news we saw on this way back in early August, but for some reason others seem to be picking it up only now. Boooo, Mattel.

  • PRIZEY just broke 1,000 active members, over 90% of them opted in to be included in a reviewer matchmaking service we'll offer to companies. We will launch this very soon and will begin making matches, and will offer services priced for small businesses as well as for big brands, including a niche service that plants a flag for conscientious review blogging that meets specific ethical guidelines. We'll make the big announcement soon.

  • How to play Road Wars with Legos [PDF].

  • SIGG CEO Steve Wasik responded to some of the evidence we collected in our post on their communications, "A Tangled Web: Notes from SIGG's Age of Innuendo." He said the employee we tried to protect in the German emails was actually fired about two months ago for making false statements to consumers. No word on how many consumers those false statements touched. He also said that the company did not support the statements made on the Facebook page we cited, but were made by an employee "trying to protect the brand she loves." That Facebook page appears to have been taken down altogether, as a reader pointed out to us in a comment; you can find SIGG's Facebook presence here or here (they seem to have a lot of pages around that site) and read a lot of comments from consumers. Wasik also released a more apologetic Letter from the CEO yesterday, which replaces the previous edition and contains the words "we're sorry."
